Yeast extract for skincare is becoming increasingly popular due to the high concentration of nutrients that offer a stellar amount of benefits to your skin especially with the advance of yeast strains and fermentation. I was hesitant to try a yeast toner because I have been on Candida cleanses to detox yeast, but the amount of research convinced me to try it as yeast comes in many different forms; Candida Albicans is an example of a harmful yeast-there are nutritional yeast strains that are extremely beneficial to your health, packed with the good bacteria, and are immune system boosters. I’ve been using Galactolift for 3 months, and I’m so pleased with the results that at times I have not worn my daily foundation.
I’ve incorporated the toner in my daily skincare routine by applying after my cleanser, then finishing up with moisturizer. (In the above picture I’m wearing my favourite loungewear robe: Fleur of England Allure Robe.)
The toner has addressed all of the benefits I listed below…
Yeast extract promotes skin lightening by regulating the production of the enzyme in melanin production and boosts collagen production which contributes to overall brightening. This gives the appearance of a lighter, more even skin tone says Julie Russak, M.D., founder of NYC’s Russak Dermatology Clinic. Yeast extract is also a rich source of Beta-Glucans which promotes wound healing and a reduction in scarring, even a significant reduction of intense scarring from surgical procedures.
I’ve noticed a more even skin tone over the course of the 3 months I’ve been using Galactolift, the small red blemish marks I’ve had have now faded. Because of that I have stopped wearing my daily foundation on occasion.
Improves Texture & Smoothness
Yeast has cell renewal properties, with the ability to improve skin smoothness and texture. I have noticed that my skin pore size has gotten really small, and some of the little bumps I had on my forehead have completely disappeared since using the toner.
Yeast is a natural remedy that reduces or may eliminate acne without needing to apply harsh products. Yeast treats acne by killing excess bacteria, as well as by supporting the production of white blood cells which helps to clear problem skin and keep it healthy. These extra white blood cells can fight infection in hair follicles. It will fight current acne outbreaks and prevent acne from developing in the future. Most skin problems are caused by deficiencies in B vitamins. Yeast can also cure skin conditions like dermatitis and eczema by correcting the vitamin B deficiencies in the body. Commission E, a German health agency, approves yeast for treating acne, eczema and boils.
I’ve noticed an incredible reduction in breakouts since using the toner for times when I don’t remove my makeup at night. I wake up the next day to cleanse my skin, then I apply the yeast toner, and I don’t experience breakouts from the residual effects of not removing my make-up- which is amazing!
Yeast is a rich source of beta-glucans, which has qualities that make it a must-have anti-aging ingredient. A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science evaluated the effects of beta-glucan on facial lines and wrinkles on 27 people. After 8 weeks, there was “a significant reduction of wrinkle depth and height and overall roughness.” “It [also] aids in collagen production to fight wrinkles,” says Julie Russak, M.D. The antioxidants and amino acids which are contained in yeast restore skin’s youthful glow, increasing the synthesis of collagen and elastin.
In Galactolift there are added peptides aside from the yeast extract that make the product an anti-aging powerhouse. The peptides that are used in Galactolift are Acetyl Hexapeptide, Palmitoyl, and Pentapeptide. Peptides are used for anti-aging to smooth wrinkles and reduce the visual effects of aging. They are a portion of larger protein molecules used in the body to communicate with and direct skin cells to behave in certain beneficial ways, such as producing more collagen or thickening the support structure of the skin. Even though I don’t have any fine lines or wrinkles, I’ve personally noticed my skin feels more firm after using the yeast toner.
Beta-Glucans are very useful antioxidants. One study has found that yeast-derived beta-glucans could reduce free radical formation in vitro, and animal studies have shown it to be antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The B vitamins in yeast extract refresh and tone the skin, increase blood circulation in cells, and normalize metabolic processes. I have noticed that the yeast toner has calmed and balanced out my skin.
Yeast extract is a super-hydrator; the minerals present in yeast actively nourish the skin, make it elastic, and resistant to external influences. Yeast extract is a great moisturizer for all skin types as the natural ingredient adapts to your skin. Personally, I have combination skin and after using the toner my skin feels evenly balanced.
Because of all of these amazing benefits I will continue to use the toner in my daily skincare routine.
